9th Annual Gibtown Bike Week in Gibsonton, FL

Gibsonton, FL (Jan 15, 2012)............or was it Gibtown? All I know is that is was quite an event. From the bike shows to the high wire act to the many vendors to the many bike builders and much, much more. The CycleShotz Staff would have liked to have been there for the entire week, but alas, finances could not meet the wants. The first morning we walked in a hall at the International Independent Showmen's Association, Inc. and one wall was covered with old photos from the bygone days of the sideshow and different carnivals across the USA. There were also posters/signs around the top of the walls with many different carnival companies on them. Turns out they are a non profit private organization made up of people in the outdoor amusement industry. All proceeds from this event goes to local charities.
During the weekend, we met and interviewed a couple of the builders attending the event. Both have quite an interesting story, as you will see from the interviews. Upon leaving the hall(s), we ventured outside and our senses were attacked from all the different food smells wafting through the air. I can't forget the visual attacke of ALLLLLLLLLL the vendors. It quite a showing.
We then proceeded to the hi-wire/motorcycle show. Watching that will keep ya on your toes. Got a person you don't like? We found just the job for them....standing in the middle of the motorcycle dome with a person roaring around them!
After that show, there was a local wrestling show. Yeah, I know...but it was very entertaining in spite of what everyone may think.
The rest of Saturday night was watching, listening, and recording the bands and the 'other stuff' that goes on in the crowd! Well, enough outa me, go peruse the photos and videos of this fantastic event...The 9th Annual Gibtown Bike Fest!!
