Leesburg Bikefest 2014 Photos

Leesburg, FL APR 28, 2014) Another great Leesburg Bikefest. The motorcycle and pull behind the bike trailer were loaded up Thursday evening so I could get an early start......10:00 am. Yep, that didn't happen. Remembering the awesome time I had 2 years ago, I woke up fairly early and decided to leave a little earlier than planned....9:00 am. Sometimes it's about the ride and other times it's about the destination.
I had completely forgot that just west of Orlando on the Florida Turnpike, it becomes fairly hilly, yep, a south FL flatlander from Michigan.....
I soon remembered how pretty the countryside is up there, especially on US 27. I had a 15 mile ride from the motel to Main Street and enjoyed every mile of it.

The weather was also picture perfect although it did get a tad bit on the hot side in the afternoon. The crowd size had to be a record this year due the the popularity of this event, I heard one estimate of 250.000. For those that come down from "way up north", please don't get crazy next year. I fully understand cabin fever, but there were a few accidents where the rider was at fault because of speeding. Ride Safe.
This is only the second time I have covered this event, but it will definitely not be the last. I may even skip Daytona Bike Week for this one.......not quite as restricted here.
This year I obseverved quite a plethora of 'eye candy', a few superheros, one marmoset monkey, and probably every make of motorcycle known to modern day mankind, and oh, did I mention the HOTTTTTT biker babes?

The musical entertainment was off the chain this year with over 72 bands playing on the three outdoor stages, the Towne Square, The Budweiser Stage, and the Biker Zone Stage where the Miss Ratmate contest was also held. That doesn't include the bands playing at all the different inside venues. There was so many different things to do, it was almost impossible for me to attend all the different events. Just off the top of my head there were bikini contests, stunt riders, precision riding drill teams, bikini contests, dogs and frisbees, bike shows, a couple of tattoo venues, the Allstate lot, and on and on, did I mention the bikini contests? This has to be the new 'must attend' event of the year here in Florida.
