25th Biketoberfest-SILVER at Cacklebery Campground 2017

Samsula, FL (Mar 19, 2017)

SAMSULA, FLA., OCT 18-22, 2017 The party at Cacklebery Campground And RV Resort officially began at 7PM on Wednesday night featuring the Blue Diamond Band. And now I regress...arriving early Monday evening to set up the 7 Tv's so everyone has a spectacular view of the happenings on the stage, I noticed it was quite 'soggy', to say the least. After speaking with the owners, Ronnie and Jen Williams, I was told they had spent the last two weeks pumping all the rain water from hurricane Irma and her many rain bands. It was estimated to be over TWO million gallons. At that point in time I decided to get on down to a local feed supply store and get some 'water boots', the most uncomfortable footwear known to mankind, but also was the footwear of choice for the first three days I was there. As usual the staff did a stellar job restoring the roads, the campsites, and the main entertainment venues. Using over 100 bales of hay, the wetness and mud was kept to minimum, keeping many feet very happy.
After setting up two of the tv's, I had to run 100' of extension cord. Not being an electrician, I used a lowly 16 gauge which caused the tv's to constantly turn off and on. Tuesday morning there was a trek to the local Home Depot for a $150.00 10 gauge cord, everything worked fine after that, except the ol wallet.... Located only 15 miles from Main Street, in Samsula Florida, on CR 415, Cacklebery Campground, 560 Tomoka Farms Road, is a fantastic alternative to the crowded roads of Main Street and some of the other smaller bars and venues throughout the area and provides non-stop entertainment through the day and evening.
I wrote about Cacklebery back in 2014 when I attended their second motorcycle event. The growth of this venue is phenomenal to say the very least. Throughout the entire five days I was reunited with many that have been there from the start, I guess we are now called 'family' and we are proud of that fact. Once again this year Donny's Big Daddy Band provided the stage and his lighting, with our very own emcee Taz also bringing in his lighting. I can't not mention his lovely wife Ruthie who keeps their business 'Twisted Karaoke' alive at other venues when she is not slinging jello shots at this event.
This year there were two different groups of ladies working the outside bars, doing bikini bike washes, selling jello shots, stage and pole dancing, and of course participating in the two wet t-shirt contests and our highly popular bikini contest. A couple of them even got painted!! The International Bikini Team and Club Flirt once again this year performed their duties flawlessly and I hope they return for many years to come. With so much going on, between switching the video feeds from three different cameras and running new cables to different locations, there was barely time to capture as many photos as I and my staff normally do. Neither one of my photographers could make it this year due to health issues so I was stuck doing both. I was able to get some shots of the many activities going on outside the tent. The Micro Championship Wrestling show, whose motto is "half the size, twice the violence" lived up to their high standard of entertainment. The World Championship even changed hands during the first of their four different shows. They always keep the crowd active, with their blend of humor and unbelievable wrestling skills. The crowd around the ring this year was huge for all their shows. If you couldn't get close though, one of the many TV's in the venue had all the action close-up and live.
I can't say enough about our 'Bull' either. Cacklebery has had him for the past 3 years and he keeps the crowds entertained like few can do. The ladies (especially those in bikinis) seem to be the most popular riders, and he gives them a ride they will never forget....and neither will the crowd.
As usual, the high speed go carts, (45mph), also drew a large crowd and once the participants finished they wanted to go back and get revenge on the person who spun them out....all in good fun!! The asphalt track makes the carts stick pretty good, but being bikers, there are many individual competitions constantly going on, and it makes for some awesome spectator action on top of it all.
Children R Our Future of Volusia County, a 501c, with the assistance of Who's Hot Daytona, Bryan Lambert Photography and Hattie, had a booth set up to raise money for children with terminal illnesses. Once again the bikers came through with their generous donations. There was a poker run set up but it was cancelled due the the prospect of inclement weather, which thankfully did miss the campground entirely.
Now for the fun part.....body painting. Showing my age here, Earl Sheib (any car $29.95) never did any painting like 'Cameron Create'!! The girls (and one guy that was roped into it) this year were really exhibiting some awesome artwork this year, running the gamut from stars and stripes to unicorns to the gentleman with the Cacklebery logo painted on his buddha belly. Yeah I took a photo of it...scary.
The food vendors made sure I didn't lose any weight during Biketoberfest, Dr. Tina the Chiropractor kept my back in ship shape condition, I was kept with clean clothes from the many apparell vendors too. As usual John Verhuslt was there replacing tires and doing repairs, while next to him there was another vendor performing dyno testing.
The musical entertainment throughout the event featured Donny's Big Daddy Band, Gun Shy, Diesel, Stone Free Band, Straitjacket Smile, and Jason Lee and the Cyclones. Once again Emcee Taz kept the crowds going during the breaks between bands while all the tv's were showing previous recordings of past wet t-shirt and bikini contests at the same time. Saturday night was the BIGGGGG night, with the AC/DC tribute band ThunderJack (www.thunderjackrocks.com) just tearing the house down. The Club Flirt girls joined in the action getting on stage too and the crowd went crazy. Even had my old heart pounding away, and at 69 years old that is quite an accomplishment.
At Cacklebery Campground and RV Resort there is something for everybody and is soon to be NOW 'THE' place to be for Bikeweek and Biketoberfest, not to mention the Nascar races.
